Pink Palms with a Dash of Lime (2016) by Debra Hood
Built by the grandson of Andrew Lang Petrie (the "Father of Brisbane") in 1892, the current owners of this white sandstone house (top centre), commissioned this painting as a gift for their grandfather, Dr Sam Mellick, who originally purchased the house in 1956. It is based around the suburbs of Ascot and Clayfield, and features both St Andrew's Hospital and the University of Queensland, where Dr Mellick worked. This painting is a favourite of Debra's.
